One of my goals for our Friends of Highland Park and the Parks of Cosmopolis and Cosmopolis page is to feature different business in our community and citizens. I am happy to say we are featuring our first Cosmopolis citizen, making a difference.
Who is Judith Lohr?
Judith Lohr, known as Judi, is a fascinating woman with a lifetime of artistic business and life experiences. She has traveled extensively throughout the United States. In each destination where she lived, she took advantage of education and art opportunities. Her resume is as long as her life experiences. Judi’s passion for civic involvement has been a boon for Cosmopolis. She has served on several committees in Cosmopolis and Grays Harbor, including the Makarenko Park Planning Committee, Past President of the Cosmopolis Lionette’s, GH Tourism Council, and is serving on Cosmopolis Planning Committee. Judi has a lifelong love for art and it’s apparent in her education and work throughout her lifetime. Judi founded the After School Program, where she taught art at Cosmopolis School until she retired and opened the Cosi Art Center.
Grays Harbor is rich with artists of all kinds who have truly made their mark throughout Grays Harbor. Judi is making her mark on the youth of Cosmopolis and Grays Harbor fostering creatively while teaching basic techniques and inspiring new artists. The Cosi Art Center, as the venue for creativity, is warm and welcoming, with a variety of mediums for students to express their art. Posters and other art line the rooms, much of it being her students’ artwork. Judi and a group of students are working on large murals that depict many of Cosmopolis’ historical buildings. Once the murals are completed, they will hang on the outside of the building for all to enjoy. Students learn about the masters but also can create or paint some of their favorite subjects; Anime and luxury cars (Jaguar) are just a few of the students’ interests. Currently, Judi holds classes on Thursdays and Saturdays with plans to open full time mid-June through the summer. Judi is a partner with the Friends of Highland Park, and we hope to collaborate on art events at the Highland Park during the summer 2023 for both children and adults.
Thank you, Judi, for bringing your creativity and passion for the arts to our youth and Cosmopolis. What's a product or service you'd like to show.
